Open Day - Build a Bear on 23rd August 2025
At The Hamilton International School, students of all cultural backgrounds and academic capabilities are welcomed and supported, with special dedicated initiatives. Beyond academics, a school counselor offers learners pastoral support, providing reassurance and care when students feel overwhelmed by the pressure of planning their future. Our Inclusion team works in partnership with teachers and families to develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) where needed and monitor progress through regular checkpoints.
Students with special educational needs or learning difficulties benefit from tailored interventions through our Intervention Program, Hamilton Hub and Early Intervention programs.
Students who consistently outperform expected results enjoy enrichment opportunities to push boundaries and achieve further excellent results, backed by Individual Learning Plans.
Learners in need of accelerated English development gain from intensive or regular support from our EAL department, fast-tracking their confidence and fluency in a second language.
All students see their emotional and psychological health protected in a safe, inclusive space where every learner is seen, heard, and supported according to their own specific needs.
Our Tier 1 support provides access to targeted interventions, classroom accommodations, and services such as Occupational Therapy (OT) and Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT). These are available to both mainstream students and those with identified learning needs.
Tailored to students in Kindergarten with the aim to facilitate their learning journey since their first years in school.
Adapted to students in need of extensive support from Primary to High School through individualized interventions and professional support.
Developed for students with a higher level of independence who still require intensive academic and therapeutic support.
Designed to support Secondary students with Special Educational Needs to gain the skills, confidence, and independence needed for the workplace.
Each specialized classroom is led by a highly skilled educator, supported by inclusion assistants and a team of therapists, ensuring personalized attention.Â
The program places a strong emphasis on speech and language development, sensory integration, and early social interaction, which are crucial for lifelong growth.
Each classroom is led by specialist SEN teachers, supported by inclusion assistants and therapists, ensuring personalized attention. The curriculum is designed around each student's cognitive profile, with a strong emphasis on developing communication, functional academics, and life skills. The Hamilton Hub helps children with significant cognitive disabilities by providing adapted academic standards linked to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Developed by the Dynamic Learning Maps Consortium, these standards use learning maps to show how knowledge builds over time.Â
This approach increases access to grade-level content, sets clear learning targets, and supports varied communication methods and assistive technologies. It ensures consistency across grades and aligns with general education standards, promoting inclusive education.
The intervention program at Hamilton offers students small-group, targeted instruction in literacy, numeracy, and functional academic skills. Structured intervention blocks are part of the school day, providing consistent and individualized support. Intensive literacy programs address reading and comprehension challenges. Collaboration with parents and regular data reviews ensure measurable progress and ongoing goal-setting. Parent engagement is encouraged through coffee mornings and training sessions to support learning and communication at home.
Through hands-on learning, students progress through levels from initial engagement to workplace competence, developing skills in areas like hospitality, retail, administration, and customer service.   The program includes tailored tasks supported by visual aids and clear routines, and focuses on building independence, communication, and emotional regulation.  Each student's journey is personalized to their abilities and pace, with regular updates shared with families. This program not only provides work experience but also boosts self-esteem and readiness for real-world employment.
High-achieving students are identified through Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment scores, teacher observations, and classroom performance. Individual Learning Plans, differentiated instruction, and flexible grouping in the classroom cater to the depth, pace, and complexity needed for advanced learners. Enrichment opportunities including cross-curricular challenges, academic competitions, and inquiry-based projects stimulate intellectual growth and curiosity. Continuous analysis of MAP growth data allows for tracking student progress and refining support strategies, ensuring that gifted students thrive academically and personally.
Students are supported in developing their English fluency by a team specialized in supporting language proficiency and an excellent EAL provision, accredited by the Bell Foundation’s Language for Results International (ALFRI) framework.

Tier 2 provides small-group lessons with EAL specialists to improve vocabulary, reading, writing, and speaking skills, including reading comprehension exercises, writing workshops, and conversational practice. Tier 3 offers intensive help for new or beginner English learners, involving one-on-one tutoring sessions focused on basic language skills and integrating language learning with subjects. This approach helps students learn English faster while keeping up with their regular studies.
Using the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) and the Bell Foundation’s EAL Assessment Framework, students are assessed and supported based on language proficiency bands (A–E).
EAL specialists collaborate with class teachers to integrate English language development across all subjects. This approach allows for personalized support and effective tracking of progress, focusing on developing:
