High School Diploma in Doha

Students aged 14 to 18 (Grades 9–12) finalize their journeys by taking full ownership of their learning, achieving academic excellence, and gaining entrance to prestigious universities and careers worldwide.

Build a personalized High School Curriculum

Students embark on a four-year program with our High School Diploma Program (HSD). They earn credits by completing courses, with a minimum of 24 credits required for graduation. Students typically earn 7 to 7.5 credits per year, with electives allowing them to explore passions and develop specialized skills.  
 
Each course contributes to a student’s GPA, calculated on a 0 - 4 scale. 
 
In Grades 9 and 10, students take core subjects  alongside a selection of electives based on their interests, future goals, prerequisites, and academic performance.

English

Fostering a love of reading and writing

Students develop skills in textual analysis, critical thinking, and communication across a range of literary and non-literary texts. 

  • Grades 9 - 10 (English I - II): students focus on reading comprehension, analysis of literature, and structured writing. Students build confidence through writing, discussion, and presentations 
  • Grade 11 - 12: learners choose from English III - IV or IB English A, deepening their understanding of how language shapes meaning across contexts, with increased emphasis on argumentation and literary theory.

Mathematics

Developing an analytical mind

Students begin with an integrated approach before branching into specialist options.  

  • Grades 9 - 10 (Math I - II): students study algebra, geometry, functions, and data handling. Emphasis is placed on connections between strands and real-world applications 
  • Grade 11 - 12 (Math III/ IB Math AA or AI): students approach advanced topics including trigonometric, polynomial, and logarithmic functions, plus statistics and sequences.

Exploring through experimentation

A broad integrated science curriculum allows students to explore biology, chemistry, and physics together before choosing a focus area. 

  • Grades 9 - 10 (Integrated Science I - II): students explore core concepts such as cell biology, atomic structure, energy, genetics, and waves. Emphasis is on inquiry, experimentation, and critical thinking 
  • Grades 11 - 12: students choose from IB Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Environmental Systems. These courses develop deeper conceptual understanding and scientific analysis skills, including independent lab work and internal assessments.

Students build global awareness, critical inquiry, and analytical thinking. 

  • Grade 9 - 10: History and Geography introduce key civilizations, natural processes, and human-environment interactions, building on what students have learned in Middle School. Students may also begin to study Business Studies in Grade 9.
  • Grades 11 - 12: students specialize in more advanced courses such as: 
    • History, diving into 20th-century conflicts, authoritarian leaders 
    • Geography, outlining sustainability, hazards, urban development 
    • Business Management or Economics, exploring global commerce and financial systems
Social Studies

World Languages

Opening up to international opportunities

Students reach fluency in French, Spanish, and Arabic B, developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while introducing cultural topics.

Language acquisition at this stage focuses on communication skills, intercultural understanding, and global perspectives.

In the later years of High School these become optional subjects and students aim to refine their language skills even further.  

Online tools like Pamoja allow for self-paced language learning to fine-tune skills and expand multilingual abilities.

Learning to treasure wellbeing

Students learn to promote lifelong fitness, teamwork, and health literacy through a progressive program. 

  • Grades 9 - 10: students engage in team/individual sports, aquatics, fitness, and theory units on health, nutrition, and social factors in sport. Electives include Sports in Society and Health & Nutrition. 
  • Grades 11 - 12: More advanced concepts such as strength training, fitness programming, anatomy, and physiology are introduced through courses like Strength and Conditioning. PE IV emphasizes leadership, goal setting, and lifestyle planning.

Embracing cultural heritage

The Arabic curriculum in Grades 9 to 12 is designed to enhance their critical thinking and literary analysis skills, enabling them to engage deeply with a range of literary and informational texts.

Students refine their advanced writing and verbal communication through structured essays, research tasks, debates, and formal presentations. The program prepares students for the academic and professional use of Arabic by strengthening grammar, vocabulary, and rhetorical expression suited for real-world and higher education contexts.

In Islamic Studies, students think critically about contemporary religious issues, understand Islamic jurisprudence and its foundations, and apply Islamic principles with moral and social responsibility.

Service-Learning Program Extended Essay

Service-Learning Program

Through meaningful community service projects, students have the opportunity to develop essential skills while making a positive impact in their local and global communities.

 

Participants can earn recognition at three distinct levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold, based on their commitment and contributions to service activities. Each level requires increasing amounts of volunteering hours, creativity, and active involvement in different activities beyond the school curriculum.

Extended Essay

This self-paced course allows students to earn a High School half credit while engaging in a project of their choice, which can encompass a wide range of topics, whether theoretical or practical.

 

Each participant will work closely with a designated mentor who will provide guidance, support, and feedback throughout the project. Students are responsible for setting their own deadlines, honing their time management skills, and developing a sense of accountability as they progress. The Extended Essay not only cultivates crucial skills in research, analysis, and presentation but also prepares students for the rigors of post-secondary education.
